· By Fashion Tigress Team
The biggest plot twist at the 16th edition of LFW took place last night, when Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu strutted the runway in a custom Ugo Monye creation.
The Lagos State Governor made a surprise appearance at Lagos Fashion Week 2026 last night, October 31st.
Not only did he attend the event, but he also strutted down the runway for Nigerian designer Ugo Monye. Gov. Sanwo-Olu wore an off-white menswear ensemble—a matching kaftan and trousers paired with an outer kimono featuring exquisite hand-embroidery running from the neck down to the chest. He elevated the look with a tan fedora and a pair of brown dress shoes.
This isn't the first time the governor has hit the runway to support local talent. Back in 2023, he closed the show for Nigerian brand Emmy Kasbit.
Ugo Monye is renowned for his signature male traditional wear, celebrated for precise tailoring, intricate embroidery, and regal silhouettes.
