Fashion Tigress Alert: Tyla Wears Nigerian Designer, Mowalola to 2026 MTV VMAs

Did Tyla try to unite South Africa and Nigeria through fashion?

 

Well, FT thinks so. 

The South African pop star

attended the 2026 MTV VMAs last night at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. She wore this creation by Nigerian-British designer Mowalola. 

  

The singer who wore head-to-toe snake print turned heads with this look. 

The 2 piece outfit is from the brand’s SS27 collection, which debuted at London Fashion Week a few days back. The outfit features a turquoise snake print top and a low-rise satin side panel, and a turquoise snake print skirt.

Ron Hartleben styled her, and he has something to say to critics of this look at the end of the video.

 

Her hair was styled by Curt Cobain, who added hair extensions to her hair to add both length and volume to her hair. He braided the top of her hair in flat cornrows, giving her that chic, African-inspired look. 

 

Her makeup was done by Jimmy Stam. He began the process with clean, moisturized skin. His products of choice, CeraVe.  He gave her eyes a lil intensity by giving her the smoky cat-eye look. The rest of her face was bronzed out, giving her skin an illuminated glow.
